FIELDWORK
CDRS Project | Architecture Mphil
The Cambridge Design Research Studio (CDRD) project carried out in 2020-2022 in support of me thesis and Design project my Architecture and Urban Studies masters at the University of Cambridge
My project aims to explore the human experience within a space and how it should connect with the body, to be operated and enjoyed.
People with visual impairments must use their bodies and senses in a different way to interact with the world. They possess a unique perception of the world due to the adaptation of their bodies.
My research and Proposal will focus on creating a space for native craft trades that can be carried out by people living with visual impairments and body conditions, withe case study of Gara dyeing in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
All About Gara
Visit to Home Leone Destiny Village
Whilst in Sierra Leone I was able to Visit Home Leone's project called Destiny Village just outside of Freetown. Home Leone’s vision is of a sustainable movement that sees the end of slum living in Sierra Leone. Its first pilot “Destiny” Village develops a new community, relocating over 2,500 people from across Freetown’s 72 slums, to new secure low cost homes.
