Interview with Victoria Renner
Whilst in Freetown, one of my earliest meetings was with an expert artisan dyer named Victoria Renner. Based and working predominantly in the city Ms Renner was able to introduce me to the fundamentals of the fabric dyeing technique.

More about the Artist
Ms Renner is based mainly in Freetown Sierra Leone, and has been working in Gara making and selling for over 20 years.
​
Alongside her textiles work she also endeavours in teaching the trade to others. Specifically to young and vulnerable women also based in the city as a potential means of trade and livelihood options.
Outside of her textiles work, Renner is also an experiences farmer, growing crops and vegetation in her plots surrounding her residential areas.
