Christian Union for the Blind and Visually Impaired
Visiting & Interviewing
The CUBVI is an independent charity based in Kossoh Town just outside of main town Freetown, and they are a charity which supports the people living with Blindness and Visual Impairments throughout the city. The look for ways to support themselves with various forms of craft making such as textiles and beadwork however, their dominant for of work is through soap making.
During my time in Freetown I was able to meet with them and their president Mohammed Fuller , to learn more about their first-hand experience of living with a visual impairment in Freetown and how they could also engage with other hand craft work

After the group sessions I also offered to do on one interviews with a few of the charity members to get a more intimate account of their experience of living in Freetown. During these talks I also tested a quick mock up of a garage folding device idea to gauge their reactions and interactions with it.
